Stinson Beach
Relax at the Beach

Stinson Beach is three plus miles of sand; plenty of room for sunbathing.  Lifeguards are on duty May through October only.  There is a park adjacent to the beach with ample picnic tables and parking (on a first come first served basis).

Visit the Point Reyes National Seashore

Hike on the more than 70 miles of trails or visit the light house that sits high on a Point Reyes cliff, built in 1870. Watch the whales at this popular location as they pass through on their way north (January through March). More information available at the visitors centers.

Bird Watching

Stop anywhere along the Bolinas Lagoon wildlife preserve and watch the egrets and great blue herons that nest there each spring.  It is also a great spot to check out the harbor seals sunning themselves (interfering with any of the animals is a violation of federal law and is strictly enforced). Audubon Canyon Ranch, located on the Bolinas Lagoon, is open to the public mid-March through mid-December.

Hike Mount Tamalpais

Enjoy the view from the ridge of this mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and the spectacular sights of San Francisco on a clear night. There are hundreds of trails to pick from. Call the Pan toll Ranger Station at (415) 388-8070 for more information and a trail map, or visit Friends of Mt. Tam for guided hikes and other activities.
